Our Story
SkilLit Readers emerged in March 2024 with a vision to revolutionize the way we experience reading and embrace the infinite possibilities it offers. Our name embodies two profound concepts – a) Skills b) Literature. We hold a deep conviction that literature can nurture essential life skills, enriching our journeys through the power of reading and hands-on learning. Whether you are a parent, a child, an educator, or a lifelong learner, we invite you to join us on this uplifting adventure, where the world of books becomes a source of joy, engagement, and transformation.
Our organization is inspired by the personal stories of our founders, who both experienced the remarkable benefits of growing up immersed in reading and thriving in diverse and integrated learning environments. They share the belief that learning flourishes not in isolation but through interconnectedness, with books serving as both enlightening windows and reflective mirrors.

Our World, Your Book (13-18 years)
Our programs for teenagers provides them a platform to explore specific social issues or themes through the lens of books. We define a topic (e.g., justice) and our participants are welcome to choose ANY book of their choice. We then decode, experience, and examine the topic through our signature tools. This enables real-life skills, wide exposure, and self-expression in a fun manner.
- 5 days
- Online
Our Programs for Adults
Our programs for adults facilitate connection and community through books. In a world that’s becoming increasingly more isolated, we see books as a medium to bridge and form bonds between adults. We facilitate three types of workshops for adults
- Workshops based on a specific book that require no pre-reading
- Bring Your Own Book (BYOB) workshops based on a specific theme
- Workshops based on a specific book that require pre-reading
These workshops are fun, immersive, screen-free, and engaging.
Our Programs for Schools
We support schools by facilitating our in-school experiential reading and exploration programs. Our programs are age-appropriate and differentiated for nursery, early grades, primary, middle school, and high school students. These programs take place during the school hours.
While we design custom programs depending on the school’s needs, most programs include:
- Read aloud, guided, or independent reading
- Exploring the book through music, writing, roleplay, art, craft, movement, building models, games, pictures, and polls
- Guided mentorship for group capstone projects to express personal takeaways from the books read
- Feedback reports on the skills demonstrated through group projects
- Digital scrapbooks capturing the work done by students throughout
Our programs aim to build critical thinking, self-reflection, communication skills, creativity, and social awareness, beyond motivating children to build a consistent reading habit
We offer our programs as part of after-school clubs held at the school premises. This functions as an opt-in program for those interested in these programs. These programs are typically run on a quarterly basis with an exhibition at the end of each round of the program. We run separate programs for students based on their age groups:
- Creative explorers program for nursery to upper kindergarden
- Budding readers program for grades 1 to 3
- Experiential book clubs for grades 4 to 7
- Theme based exploration for grades 8 onwards
We support teachers with their professional development, especially regarding facilitating engaging story-based or reading-led sessions in their classrooms. These include
- Workshops based on specific books for teachers
- A series of workshops on ‘reimagining the scope of the library’, ‘using experiential tools in the classrooms’, ‘providing feedback’ or ‘teaching students to write book or movie reviews’.
- A specially curated professional development program for teachers including classroom observations and coaching.
- Designing curriculum for specific books (fiction or non-fiction)
